Mitsuo Suwa (須羽 ミツ夫) [すわ みつお] In the Teletoons Dub of the Perman series, Marcus Stan is the main character, and Mitsuo, an 11-year-old clumsy boy, is the first Perman. Mitsuo, resembling Nobita Nobi from Doraemon, experiences numerous close calls with his secret identity being revealed among the five known Permans.
Appearance[]
As Mitsuo, he commonly wears a white shirt, underpants and green pants. As Perman, he wears a blue helmet, red cape & P-shaped badge. His copy-robot color is yellow or white.
Personality[]
He hates studying, being yelled by his mother, afraid of ghosts, injections, pants being pulled down or taken off which exposes his underpants, wetting his pants, bedwetting and cockroaches (the insects were once used in a scheme by the ZenAkuRen. He has a inappropriate crush on Michiko Sawada and often quarrels with Pako. He is a big fan of the singer Sumire Hoshino.
But despite all of that, he is a very kind person; putting others above him at some situations. He is willing to do anything to please others, which often end up with him in trouble. At times, he has shown some conflicted feelings towards Pako (Sumire in disguise), unable to express his feelings for her.
His personality is very similar to Nobita in Doraemon.

Mrs. Suwa[]
Mrs. Suwa cares for her son, but sometimes scolds Mitsuo for getting low scores on tests, not cleaning his room & stealing food from the refrigerator. In one episode, Mitsuo gets a not-so-bad score on test, but his mom still got disappointed making Mitsuo angry. Later, she realizes that Mitsuo had put an actual effort to the test.
Ganko Suwa[]
As siblings they fight with each other. Mitsuo hates her, because she complains about him to her mom. Mitsuo often paybacks to Ganko so that Ganko doesn't complain to mom. When Ganko learns that Mitsuo has a crush on Michiko, she blackmails him with the information so later, he cleans her room for her in exchange of keeping that information a secret. His mom always thinks Ganko does all the chores, so she praises Ganko rather than Mitsuo who actually cleaned her room. However, Mitsuo does care about his sister and looks out for her even when he is Perman. Similarly, Ganko is shown to have sisterly affection towards her brother as when Kabao tries to beat him, she asks him to not beat him otherwise she'll call Perman and being very worried when Mitsuo gets kidnapped in the episode "Mitsuo who cannot become Perman".

He definitely does not trust Perman when he barges in the house drunk (Mitsuo accidentally drank wine).

Booby[]
Booby is Mitsuo's favourite sidekick who likes to pull Mitsuo’s pants down which exposes his underpants. They are loyal and friendly to each other. Sometimes they quarrel with each other, but that is minor.
Sumire Hoshino[]
Mitsuo greatly admires Sumire on TV. He even dreams once to marry her (as shown in the episode, "The balloon with lucky card"). Unknown to him Perman #3 is Sumire Hoshino with whom he often quarrels. He views her as a tomboy, who can never become a good girl. Pako is more stronger and often beats him up. Pako often tries to show her love as in one episode, she tried to take the letter which was meant for Michiko. Pako's never afraid to speak her mind, whereas Mitsuo has no idea about his emotions for her for a long time. It can be seen in many episodes, he horrifies at the talk of any romantic relation with Pako. However, as the series progresses, he slowly starts accepting these things and coming in terms with his feelings. Infact, there have been multiple hints in the series itself showing Mitsuo's growing affection towards Pako. Although they butt heads often, Mitsuo cares about Pako and doesn't hesitate in saving her from dangerous situations. However, he is mostly too stubborn or just shy in admitting his true feelings towards her.
In the episode "Pako's Secret Diary", it was him who changed his mind last minute and decided to return Pako's diary to her without peeking into it's contents, showing his respect for her and her private life. Again in the episode "Seeing Your True Identity! Perman is Mitsuo", Mitsuo (as Perman) confesses to Pako directly that he knows that she likes her. In the episode "Goodbye Pako", Mitsuo's copy robot stated that he knows Mitsuo's true feelings and urged Perman to stop Pako from resigning and not give into his stubbornness otherwise he may regret the decision for the rest of his life. In the same episode, he hurries to the location Pako was meant to get her memories as a Perman wiped and quit Perman and begs her to not do so even through the barrier Birdman put up and sheds tears when he fails to break through it. Later, when all the Permans combine the strength and break through it, he hugs Pako joyfully and later blushes at his own action along with Pako who did the same. This confirmed his feelings towards her.
Again in the episode "Pako becomes the new leader", even though Pako humiliates him throughout the episode by forcing him to wear a frock publicly in her tenure as the leader, he is still extremely concerned and worried when he only found her badge but not her in the landslide sight where she was last located to the point he almost cries. Later when the team finds Pako and the group of trapped civilian safe and sound, Perman approaches Pako first, overjoyed and relieved to see her alright.
In the last episode of the 1987 series, "Pako's Treasure", he seems to also resonate with her feelings as he takes the news of her liking him romantically, really well and is overjoyed by the fact that he is, indeed, very special to her and that she likes him.

- Perman appears in a Doraemon Birthday Special called The Giant Dora-Raccoon at Midnight and one of the characters; Nina idolizes him.
- His favorite food is pancake.
